Mariam Malik Alsikafi is an active alumna in the Harvard community and a leader in education, arts, and community partnerships at the Citizens Archive. She has served on the HBS Alumni Board and has over two decades of experience on the boards of philanthropic and cultural organizations, including Sesame Workshop (Sesame Street). Originally from Karachi, she now lives in Chicago with her husband (HBS 2003) and three children. As a board member, Mariam will be committed to building community and strengthening Harvard's tradition of excellence and leadership.

About Mariam

Mariam Malik Alsikafi leads the Citizens Archive, a global non-profit focused on development through arts, education and community partnerships. She is a founding member of the Leadership Now Project, a democracy membership organization engaging business leaders in politics and governance. She has over two decades of experience with education and early-childhood related boards, including the Leadership Council at Sesame Workshop, the Founders’ Board at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Lincoln Park Music Center Foundation, and the Women’s Steering Committee for CARE USA.

 

Mariam has pioneered a broad range of initiatives focused on dialogue and capacity building including the Story Share Initiative, a two-year project based out of Pakistan, connecting practitioners and students across four continents. She has also led the Exchange for Change initiative between schools in Pakistan and North America aimed at creating deeper learning opportunities. Her work has combined creativity and business experience to launch programs that scale over time and geography including a pilot virtual museum with the Google Cultural Institute.

 

She is passionate about finding solutions and investing in new ideas. Mariam has partnered with invest2innovate, the first and only female-led VC in Pakistan and mentored a diverse set of entrepreneurs. She has served on the Chicago Ideas Week Brain Trust and been a judge for the Bluhm/Helfand Social Innovation Fellowship selecting and supporting exceptional changemakers working to solve pressing societal challenges.

 

Mariam has been a dedicated volunteer and ambassador for Harvard Business School since graduating. She served on the Alumni Board and most recently chaired the MBA 2003 Reunion Fund-Raising Committee. She has co-chaired Major Gifts for record-breaking 10 and 15-year reunion campaigns and has emphasized efforts to increase participation of the international alumni body.

 

Mariam Alsikafi was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan. She attended Dartmouth College and the Harvard Business School. She currently resides in Chicago with her husband and three children.
